Workshop «Launching of Water Management Curriculum for Africa» in Jakarta

The UNESCO Chair Holder for water management in Central Asia Barbara Janusz-Pawletta are currently at the Workshop «Launching of Water Management Curriculum for Africa” in Jakarta, Indonesia to present the experience in building a regional MA Program in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Central Asia (CA), which is implemented at the Deutsch-Kasachische Universität together with Freie Universität Berlin.

The workshop brings together around 15 key partners in the development of the Water Management Curriculum from UNESCO Water Category II Centres and Chairs in Africa and Asia and the Pacific.

Objectives of the Workshop are:
— to discuss the final document of the water management curricula and its integration into national curricula in Africa, particularly sub-Saharan Africa, and
— to launch the resulting Water Management Curriculum for Africa.

UNESCO offers a reliable and proven fram. ework for scientific exchange between people, disciplines and cultures and Central Asia has a lot to exchange and to share with other parts of Asia and Pacific and beyond, like Africa.
The overall purpose of the project «Upscaling Water Security to Meet Local, Regional, and Global Challenges — Designing Local Ecohydrology and IWRM Educational Resources for Africa”" is to ensure that the Water Management Curricula produced under the original project are as relevant, applicable and appropriate to the African as well as the wider Asian context as possible, in turn enabling their widespread use and appreciation in relevant contexts.
