MCCC — Survival and adaptation strategies of local communities in Mining cities in Central Asia and South Caucasus. (2018−2020).

The coordinator of the project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), was the Leibniz Institute of Regional Geography in Leipzig (Germany), with Kazakh-German University as a partner.

The aim of the project i was to obtain extensive data on survival strategies in extreme conditions in the (former) mono-industrial cities of Central Asia and the South Caucasus. Based on the data collected, were developed recommendations for strengthening the socio-economic infrastructure and sustainable development in former mining cities. Along with DKU, Tbilisi State University (Georgia) and Khujand State University (Tajikistan) took part in the project.
