Tuition and scholarships

Internal grants
Up to 50% of DKU students (BA and MA) receive annual grants/scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) or from the German Ministry of the Interior.

All grants/scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. The decision to grant grants is made by the scholarship committee. The meeting of the commission for the distribution of grants and the announcement of the results takes place at the end of August.

All scholarships/grants are allocated for one academic year!
Applicants of both BA and MA who wish to receive one or another type of internal grant / scholarship must:

  1. Complete the online registration of applicants at the link dku.kaznu.kz/abiturient_home/index/. All fields must be filled in, otherwise your scholarship application will not be displayed in the program.
  2. During the online registration process, apply for a scholarship. When submitting an application, it is necessary to indicate the types of scholarships for which the applicant is applying. For each type of scholarship, a full package of documents must be provided. All required documents must be uploaded when applying online. Only those applications that contain a complete set of documents attached to them are submitted for consideration by the scholarship commission.

If an incomplete package of documents is provided, the applicant is not allowed to participate in the competition.

Acceptance of applications for grants and related documents begins on June 1, 2023. The deadline for applications is 13 August 2023.

TYPES OF INTERNAL GRANTS:

DAAD — German Academic Exchange Service.

DAAD study grants are provided to applicants (BA and MA), students and masters of DKU for good academic performance.
Also, these grants are provided to foreign students (VA and MA). Foreign applicants are applicants who have the citizenship of another country and graduated from a school or university in their country.
The grant amount is up to 50% of the cost of education.

Scholarships for living are provided to non-resident and foreign applicants (VA and MA), students and undergraduates of DKU for good academic performance, living further than 35 km from Almaty.

Criteria for selecting applicants for an internal grant:

— for BA applicants

  • internal admission procedure DKU (score for the test in subjects + score in a foreign language)
  • grade point average
  • UNT score

— for foreign applicants BA

  • internal admission procedure DKU (score for the test in subjects + score in a foreign language)
  • grade point average

— for MA applicants

  • complex testing of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan
  • oral interview in English at DKU

— for foreign MA applicants

  • pass the DKU internal admission procedure
  • oral interview in English at DKU

Applicants who receive a 15% grant may also participate in the general competition for the distribution of DAAD internal grants (see clause 1).

An applicant can receive a 15% grant in only one of the proposed categories.

These grants can be provided to the following categories of applicants:

For BA applicants

Innovative VA specialties are provided for the first year of study to all VA applicants entering the following specialties:

  • telematics
  • information engineering in economics
  • energy and environmental technology

Required documents:

Graduates of schools with in-depth study of the German language are provided to the best graduates. Grants are distributed on the basis of the school certificate and the grade in the German language certificate.

Olympiad winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd places)

Republican and/or city Olympiads in German;

  • Olympiad DKU (Redekunst) in German.

The best graduates of the Bolashak training center. Grants are distributed according to the results of the UNT.

The best graduates of the pre-university training center DKU. Grants are distributed according to the results of the DKU admission procedure.

Sprachdiplom. Applicants with a Sprachdiplom with B2-C1 level, UNT of at least 75 points will receive a 15% discount for the first year of study.

3 applicants who received the highest scores in German at the DKU internal admission procedure.

For foreign BA applicants
Foreign applicants entering undergraduate programs with good and excellent results. Grants are distributed according to the results of the school certificate.

For foreign MA applicants

Foreign applicants entering Master's programs with good and excellent results. Grants are distributed according to the results of the bachelor's degree.

Foreign applicants can also participate in the general competition for the distribution of internal DAAD grants (see clause 1).

Scholarships are provided to applicants (VA and MA), students and undergraduates of German nationality for good academic performance. These grants are distributed among applicants who participated in the competition for the distribution of DAAD grants for education and did not receive this type of grant based on the results of the general competition (paragraph 1). The distribution of grants takes place in October/November.

Criteria for selecting applicants for a grant:

for BA applicants

for MA applicants

  • complex testing of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan
