Universities looking to the future
On 17 September 2019, a meeting of the DKU President/Rector Prof. Laszlo Ungvary with the Rector of East Kazakhstan State Technical University named after D. Serikbayev (EKSTU) Prof. Shaimardanov J. K.
The purpose of the visit was to establish a partnership with DKU, discuss ways of cooperation in the field of science and education. EKSTU «sees» DKU as a strong partner, «Ambassador» of the German quality of education in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
EKSTU is the oldest University in the Eastern region, established in 1958 and provides training in a wide range of engineering, information, economic, management and natural science, architectural and design specialties of bachelor, master, PhD for the economy of the country in 81 specialties of bachelor, master and PhD.
But the special pride of EKSTU is the research and innovation infrastructure, consisting of 3 levels:
- VERITAS center of excellence
- World Skills Territories
- Educational laboratories, allowing a high level of research and commercialization of their results.
DKU President Laszlo Ungvari also presented a brief information about our University and expressed his admiration for the level of development of the innovation cluster and «breakthrough” areas of research of EKSTU, and in general from the concept of development of the University, interaction with production and business in the region, seeing this as a parallel with the philosophy of European and, in particular, German universities.
In the near future it is planned to prepare a program of cooperation.
At the end of the meeting Mr. Shaimardanov invited the President of DKU Mr. Laslo Ungvari to visit EKSTU to get acquainted with the University and sign the relevant documents on partnership.
