Signing of the consortium agreement

On November 11, 2019, the Agreement on the establishment of consortium between universities that have been actively supporting the Kazakh-German University (DKU) for many years was signed during the solemn event in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany. The consortium includes: Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften Hamburg, Hochschule Mittweida, Hochschule Schmalkalden, Technische Hochschule Wildau and Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz. President of TH Wildau, prof. Tippе, Rectos prof. Albrecht (HS Zittau/Görlitz, Professor Heinemann (HS Schmalkalden), Prof. Hilmer (HS Mittweida) and Prof. Sawatzki (für die HAW Hamburg) arrived in Berlin for signing the agreement.

The participants welcomed the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on foreign policy in the field of science, education, research and culture, Mr. Cecere, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Karimov, Head of the Department of transnational education and cooperation programmes of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Mr. Geifes and Project Manager DKU Mr. Höller. Head of Education, Science and Research department of the German House, science and innovation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Münch presented the German approach to scientific diplomacy. His speech caused a long discussion among the participants.

The signing of the Consortium agreement of partner universities of the Kazakh-German University represents a new milestone in the history of German-Kazakh cooperation, including development of DKU. For more than a decade, DKU has been reliably supported by five German universities. Kazakh students have the opportunity to get a double diploma in partner universities. Professors of the above universities constitute a long-standing core of Flying Faculty which plays an important role for DKU. Together with DKU, they are working to improve the curriculum.
