DKU Talks «Cyber Security during the COVID-19 pandemic», 25.06.2020

The Kazakh-German University is pleased to invite everyone to the DKU Talk «Cyber Security during the Pandemic COVID-19», taking place live on June 25, at 4pm (Almaty time), and available on-demand thereafter.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the role of cyber and information security became particularly important as many people and organizations continue to work and study remotely. This makes them more vulnerable to fraud and other cyber threats on the Internet. What new types of cyber risks have emerged online in the wake of Covic-19? What is cyber and information security? Should cybersecurity be the concern of citizens themselves or the task of the state? What financial losses do companies and citizens incur as a result of hacker attacks? How can a healthy balance be maintained between citizens' right to privacy and the need to gather information? We will discuss these and other questions with experts from Germany and Kazakhstan, Professor Dietmar Bayer and the well-known Kazakhstani expert in the field of cybersecurity, Anna Gussarova during our next DKU Talk «Cyber Security during a Pandemic».

• Prof. Dr. Dietmar Bayer is a professor of computer sciences at the Schmalkalden University (Germany) and also a guest professor at the Kazakh-German University. His research fields include computational statistics, modeling and simulation, industry application systems and data protection.
• Anna Gusarova is a founder and director of the Central Asian Institute for Strategic Studies (CAISS) and an expert in international relations and security issues. Anna Gusarova was a co-author of the study «Personal Data Protection in Kazakhstan: Status, Risks and Opportunities», which was published 2020 with the support of the Soros Foundation in Kazakhstan. She is currently a guest lecturer at the European Centre for Security Studies named after S. Gusarova. She is currently a guest lecturer at the George Marshall European Center for Security Studies.
