Works of DKU students and staff dedicated to Almaty
Each city has its own unique history, each resident has his own unique history in it. Each of us confesses his love for the city in his own way: he walks through the very places with which warm memories are associated.
We would like to share with you two interesting works of our colleague and student who took part and supported the initiative dedicated to our beloved city.
«My city»
I was born and live in Almaty all my life. For someone, our city may have many associations: apple variety Aport, Medeo, Zimbulak, mountains as such, Koktobe and many other concepts really related to Almaty. However, I associate my hometown with simple and sometimes even nondescript places, events, and people with whom I am emotionally connected.
This city is located at the foot of the Tien Shan.
He is not only native to me. It is native to many more.
All sorts of gatherings have passed here over all those years,
That the people in this place feel the spirit of freedom.
These streets, trees, all the houses and their yards
They create pressure in the chest when I see them again
After a long separation, as well as after sleep.
The city, beloved by many, is loved by me for all years.
If it turns out that I will leave these lands soon,
I will remember that love only grows stronger at a distance.
A year will pass, decades will pass, but I will certainly return
To this city that was called Faithful and to which I am faithful.

City Heroes
Almaty is a beautiful city, with kind and sympathetic people. A city that every person who has been here once falls in love with. Almaty is about first love, about kindness and sincerity, here everyone finds what he likes.
Walking to work every day, we do not notice elementary things, such as, for example, our city is being transformed. There are so many beautiful and interesting places where you can enjoy life «here and now».
In the morning, the city comes to life, shops, coffee shops, pastry shops are opening, the flow of cars is slowly increasing and people are in a hurry, who is where… But I love the time when, at 6 o'clock in the morning, there is silence in the courtyard, no one can be heard and only from the window, somewhere from afar, alternate rustling can be heard. This is the work of the heroes of our city, who are responsible for cleanliness and order. In the very early morning they collect all the garbage that accumulates during the day. Thanks to them, our city is becoming cleaner.
And one has only to walk through the courtyards of Almaty, you can be surprised how many creative people live there. I consider them the heroes of our time. Ordinary people, and how much joy they give to our eyes. You'll go into some yard, and there's beauty, everything blooms in summer and spring, various decorations made with your own hands in the front garden. After all, it is not only simple and beautiful, but also the recycling of things. The old tire has turned into a beautiful donkey, the construction helmet is now a beautiful ladybug, in general, they have a lot of imagination. It's so nice that we can meet creative people who transform courtyards and decorate our land. Thus, our city breathes, is imbued with the love and respect of local residents.
If everyone treats our city with love, then only a bright future awaits it. And our task remains to maintain cleanliness, because «it's not clean where they clean, but where they don't litter.»
