We continue our news series about the internship of our MA students

Today we will talk about young researchers from Turkmenistan who are studying under the program «Integrated Water Resources Management».

Meylis Amanov takes internship at the Turkmen State Water Management Research, Production and Design Institute «Turkmensuvylymtaslama» of the Ministry of Water Resources of Turkmenistan, Department for the development of technical projects of hydraulic structures. Meilis shared with us about the important features that he learned during the internship: «We visit the area of future construction and interview the elders and interested persons to take into account the opinions of local residents. This is done within the framework of pre-project approval of construction and assessment of its impact on the environmental situation in the region. I am planning a trip to the province of Mary, where the Murghab River is located. This river is the subject of my thesis research. I want to interview farmers, local residents, and members of the basin councils.»

Farhat Yagmurov is an intern in the Amu Darya Basin Water Management Organization of the Srednedarya Department and also shares his impressions with us: «I am engaged in monitoring the implementation of the annual water intake limits and participate in the management of water distribution for the main water intakes in the middle reaches of the Amu Darya River. During the internship, I managed to visit all 9 river water intakes. We carry out control measurements of water flow in the main structure of the Amu-Bukhara canal. In addition, I make a daily analysis of the actual water intakes by system and enter the data into the database for further use in the weekly analysis.»

Good luck to our MA students in the practical application of their knowledge.
