The Public Foundation Kazakhstan Halkyna announces a competition for awarding grants and scholarships within the framework of the Charitable program educational grants of Kazakhstan Halkyna.

The program is being implemented in the 2022−2023 academic year.

The Foundation provides grants with scholarships for applicants from low-income rural families, orphans and children with disabilities who have not received a state or other grant to pay for higher education under bachelor's degree programs.

Applicants for a grant and scholarship from the Kazakhstan Khalkyna Foundation apply to the DKU Admissions Committee from August 10 to August 17.

! Important: the applicant is independently engaged in applying and is responsible for this process, while it is worth considering that the requirements for the UNT may change annually, so it is necessary to clarify this information at the university in advance.

Grantees must comply with the academic requirements of the university and are required to complete a full course of study during the program. Failure to comply with this condition may be grounds for termination of financial support.

Who can become a candidate for an educational grant from the Public Foundation Kazakhstan Khalkyna?

Applicants for bachelor's degree programs on a competitive basis. At the same time, the Foundation reserves the right for the university to accept applications and conduct a competition (in accordance with the criteria for selecting Program participants). University students enrolled in bachelor's degree programs in accordance with the criteria for the selection of participants.

! The selection of students applying for a grant (with a scholarship) from the Foundation is carried out by the Public Association Taiburyl.

What are the criteria for selecting participants in the Program?

Criteria for the selection of Program participants for awarding educational grants and scholarships of the Kazakhstan Khalkyna Foundation based on the results of competitions held through the University's Admissions Committee are applicants who have passed the UNT and scored the necessary passing score for admission to DKU according to its results:

  • Persons from low-income families in rural areas;
  • Orphans and those left without parental care until adulthood;
  • Persons with disabilities.

Criteria for the selection of Program participants applying for a grant and scholarship of the Foundation, based on the results of competitions held among university students:

  • Persons with disabilities.
  • Orphans or left without parental care until adulthood;

  • Students from single-parent families raising disabled children of groups 1 and 2;
  • Students whose parents/parent are disabled in groups 1 and 2.

The applicant chooses the specialty himself, that is, there are no restrictions on specialties.

What period of study does the grant cover, is there a limit on the cost of training?

The grant with a scholarship covers the entire period of study under the bachelor's degree programs, from the moment of conclusion of contracts within the framework of the Program. The limit on the cost of training is up to 1 million tenge for each student-grantee. If the annual cost of a student's education exceeds 1 million tenge, the amount exceeding 1 million tenge must be paid by the grantee student himself.

Are there any obligations of grantees to the Foundation?

The grants allocated by the Foundation are gratuitous assistance. The amount is non-refundable and after completing the training, the grant holder is not obliged to «work off» the funds spent on his training.

Who makes the final decision on awarding grants?

The selection of applicants among the current year's applicants is carried out by the Admission Office or any other Commission operating at the University within the framework of the implementation of educational grants. The Foundation is provided with a copy of the minutes of the Commission meeting and a list of applicants who have passed the selection.

In what cases can a student lose a grant?

The payment of the educational grant is terminated in the following cases:

  • Termination of studies for personal or health reasons (academic leave);
  • When a student is expelled from an educational organization.
  • When a student transfers to another educational institution, except in cases when the student is studying at another educational organization within the framework of exchange educational programs.

Can an applicant for a grant from the Kazakhstan Halkyna Foundation participate in competitions of other programs, or apply for a state grant?

The applicant for the grant (applicant) can participate in competitions:

For a state grant, since the application for a grant from the Kazakhstan Khalkyna Foundation begins after the republican competition commission for awarding educational grants from the republican budget. That is, applications for the grant will be accepted from August 10 to August 17;

For other programs (M&E grants and others), provided that the dates of the competitions will not coincide, in case of coincidence, he will have to make a choice in favor of one or another competition.

Can a resident of another country living in the Republic of Kazakhstan take part in the competition?

Can an applicant who graduated from school / college earlier than this year take part in the competition?

  • Applicant's identity card scan;
  • Parents/legal guardians' identity card color copy;
  • High school graduation/college diploma copy
  • UNT certificate copy (any certificate of the current year).

Documentary evidence of one (or several) of the specified categories:

  • low-income families from rural areas;
  • orphans and those left without parental care until adulthood;
  • persons with disabilities. *If the Applicant is an orphan or a student of an orphanage, a certificate of the death of parents or a certificate from an orphanage is required.
  • Certificate of pension contributions of the Applicant's parents for the last six months;
  • Information about the status of the recipient of the targeted social assistance (place of receipt — Community Service Centers of the Republic of Kazakhstan);
  • A copy of the documents certifying participation in competitions, Olympiads (if available);
  • Copies of certificates/ diplomas attesting to the receipt of prizes at republican tournaments in the field of culture and sports (if available).

List of documents for undergraduate students:

  • Applicant's identity card scan;
  • Parents/legal guardians' identity card color copy;
  • High school graduation/college diploma copy
  • UNT certificate copy (any certificate of the current year).

Documentary evidence of one (or several) of these categories: students studying full-time undergraduate programs who are:

  • Persons with disabilities;
  • Orphans or left without parental care until adulthood;
  • From low-income families in rural areas;
  • From single-parent families raising disabled children of groups 1 and 2;
  • Students whose parents/parent are disabled in groups 1 and 2. If the Applicant is an orphan or a pupil of an orphanage, a certificate of the death of parents or a certificate from an orphanage is required.
  • Information about the status of the recipient of the targeted social assistance (place of receipt — Community Service Centers of the Republic of Kazakhstan);
  • Certificate of disability confirmation of the applicant/or parent/ siblings until adulthood, (place of receipt of the TSA);
  • Certificate from the place of study, including information about academic performance (transcript);
  • Certificate of pension contributions of the Applicant's parents for the last six months;
  • A copy of the birth certificate of the applicant's children (if available);
  • Copies of certificates and diplomas confirming participation and victory at the republican level Olympiads (if available);
  • Copies of certificates/ diplomas attesting to the receipt of prizes at republican tournaments in the field of culture and sports (if available).

Motivation letter containing:

  • information about yourself and your family;
  • interests and hobbies and achievements;
  • information about the reasons for the need for financial assistance for tuition fees;
  • justification of the choice of specialty for education.

What are the deadlines for submitting applications?

Acceptance of applications from applicants by the Admission Committee of the university is carried out during:

  • from August 10 to August 17, 2022.

Acceptance of documents from applicants for a grant among current students of bachelor's degree programs begins:

  • from August 1 to August 15, 2022.
