Registration for the seminar Publications in peer-reviewed journals is open until May 27

The event is organized by the Centre for Research & Graduate Education (CRGE) at the Kazakh-German University (DKU) in cooperation with the Oxus Society for Central Asian Affairs.

The workshop, which aims to teach students how to write and submit articles to peer-reviewed journals, is the second in a series of seminars for aspiring researchers. The speaker will be Erica Marat, Associate Professor of International Relations and Head of the Department of the National Defense University in Washington.

Main topics:

1. How to plan a good article for a journal and prepare high-quality draft versions;

2. Key components of an academic paper;

3. How to build a strong argument;

4. Understanding the differences between regional studies and theoretical journals;

5. What to expect from the review process and how to respond to criticism;

6. How to improve written English if you are not a native speaker;

7. How to create communities of reviewers for effective writing of articles.

The seminar will be held on June 23, 2021 at 19.00 Almaty time (on request, a second seminar is possible on June 30) and will be held in an online format on the Zoom platform.

Meeting language: Russian. The selected participants must also be fluent in English.

The deadline for submitting applications is May 27, 2021.
