Call for applications for the PhD scholarship program in the field of logistics

Program goal

The aim of this program is the long-term quality assurance of the field of logistics at DKU. This scholarship program offers DKU graduates in the field of logistics the opportunity to complete their PhD in Germany. The scholarships are funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.

Who can apply?

Graduates who have completed their studies in the field of logistics with above-average grades and have a Master's degree by the time they start the scholarship at the latest are eligible to apply.

What is supported?

Funding is provided for a doctorate at a state or state-recognized university in Germany as an individual project under the supervision of a university lecturer (doctoral supervisor).

Duration of funding

— The maximum funding period is 4 years in total. The duration of funding is determined by a selection committee based on your project and work plan.

— Scholarships are initially awarded for a maximum of 1 year. Extensions depend on the positive assessment of the previous scholarship period by a selection committee and the availability of funding.

Scholarship benefits

— Monthly scholarship rate of 1,300 euros

— One-time travel allowance of 750.00 euros

Selection criteria

An independent selection committee with representatives of the DKU university management, the German DKU project office and the Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst (DAAD) will decide on the applications. The selection criteria are:

1. Qualification:

  • Achievements in the Master's program in Logistics
  • German or English language skills
  • Academic achievements after graduation (e.g. publications, presentations, conference contributions)

2. Quality of the research project:

  • Originality, topicality and relevance of the project
  • Choice of host institution and establishment of contact
  • Feasibility of the work plan and schedule

3. Potential of the applicant:

  • Importance of the research project and the stay in Germany for academic, professional and personal development
  • Professional and personal motivation for the stay in Germany
  • Extracurricular commitment (social commitment, extracurricular knowledge and skills)

Prerequisites

Please check whether you meet the following criteria:

— Your Master's degree in logistics at DKU should not be more than 6 years old at the application deadline.

Application documents

Please submit the following documents:

— Complete curriculum vitae in tabular form (max. 3 pages)

— List of publications (max. 10 pages), if available

— Letter of motivation (1−2 pages), taking into account the question: What do you hope to gain personally, professionally and academically from the project in Germany?

— Confirmation of supervision by the doctoral supervisor at a German university

— Schedule of the planned research work (coordinated with the academic supervisor)

— University degree certificate

— A current, supporting letter of recommendation from a DKU university lecturer describing your qualifications

— Other documents that support your application (e.g. certificates of employment, proof of internships or voluntary work)

— Proof of language skills in German or English

Please enclose German or English translations if you are submitting documents in your national language.

The scholarship will be paid out if the funds applied for are approved by the DAAD.

The project is funded by the DAAD with funds from the German Federal Foreign Office.
