Internship of our MA students of the IWRM program has come to an end

The internship of our MA students of the Integrated Water Resources Management program has come to its end.

Today we want to tell you about our students who had an internship in Kazakhstan.

For example, Zhiashova Moldir received practical skills in the branch of the RSE «Kazvodkhoz» Big Almaty Canal D. Kunaev, where she was engaged in filling out and checking reports on the use of basin waters for various needs, and also participated in an extraordinary meeting of the Balkash-Alakol basin Council, which discussed issues of preparation for the growing season of the current year.

Other guys: Durdyev Serdar, Mamettaganov Geldimurat and Dovlet Dzhumadurdyev from Turkmenistan, Irina Yugay and Dana Kenzhebayeva from Kazakhstan, as well as Safi Pamir Zhan from Afghanistan, completed internship at the Regional Environmental Center of Central Asia (CAREC).

We are happy to know that Serdar and Geldimurat, based on the results of their internship, received a job offer. The students were assigned to identify the necessary measures to improve the reliability and safety of the Tuyamuyun hydroelectric complex.

According to Dana, she chose to take an internship at CAREC, as this center implements various projects on river basin management, transboundary water resources management and works directly with basin organizations. As part of the internship, our graduate student helped in conducting various surveys and interviews with members of the basin council, as well as participated in the Blue Peace Central Asia project.

During the internship, Irina was able to take an active part in training webinars for young water specialists on creating thematic articles with photos for their subsequent publication. She also completed the monitoring table for the Blue Peace CA project and studied the CAREC project materials that she needed to write her dissertation.

In turn, Pamir told us that he participated in the OSCE training on water diplomacy, where, as part of a role-playing game, together with the team, they prepared a political declaration of the interim commission. In practice, Pamir also faced the task of interacting with the national authorities of Afghanistan about their participation as an observer in the regional working group on water quality.

We wish our students further success in their studies.
