How our master’s students do their internship

Research practice of our undergraduates of the «Integrated Water Resources Management» program almost came to the end.

This time we want to tell how the practice takes place for the master’s students from Kyrgyzstan.

For example, Minura Begishbek kyzy trains at the Karasu District Water Management Department, which is a division of the State Water Resources Agency under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. Here what she tells about her practice: «Now I actively collect data for my master thesis of „The women in the Water User Associations (WUA) of the Karasu district“. On the second week of practice I managed to visit 5 WUA; these WUAs are now actively preparing for the growing season: construction and restoration work is underway, new channel beds are being built, etc.»

Her compatriots Aiturgan Kanybek kyzy and Ziyabidin uulu Beknazar do training in repair and construction department of regional management of water management and too share impressions with us: «Now in practice we see actual state of channels, their needs for repairs. We got acquainted with process of drop irrigation closer. Unfortunately, sites for waterings are in our region far from water sources. For the solution of a similar situation the experts carry out thorough planning of water supply. Our organization also regularly trains farmers in new technologies, including drop irrigation».

In turn, Kubanychbek Usenakunov who trains in Tyupsky regional management of water resources, notes that research practice helps him to work with the latest technologies for shooting of topographic maps.

We wish our undergraduates further success in increasing their knowledge and skills in the integrated water resources management!
