DKU undergraduates studied the special course «Environmental and Climate Law» by Professor Barbara Janusz-Pavletta

Our «Integrated Water Resources Management” program students took a special course «Environmental and Climate Law” by Professor Barbara Janusz-Pavletta. This course allowed students to make effective use of resources at both the national and cross-border levels.

It included:

— rules and conventions on environmental and water law;

— basic principles of environmental and technological law;

— national and regional legal framework;

— international law;

— technical regulations and instructions;

— preventive measures for the protection of natural resources;

— monitoring structures and implementation problems.

This year, speakers with many years of experience in Central Asia were invited to additional classes within the course to share their experience and teach students the necessary skills for the modern market.

Below is the feedback from of our student: Studying the discipline of environmental and climate law at DKU made me think of very important political and legal aspects of water and natural resources management at the national, international and global levels. We learned about concepts and knowledge about how institutional mechanisms work in combination with legal aspects in the field of environmental protection and natural resources and management of transboundary waters, as well as about the structure of the construction of legislative documents. Thanks to expertise and pedagogical competence of Dr. Barbara Janusz-Pavletta, we were able to study these concepts at a good level. In addition, we had the opportunity to meet with influential specialists and experts from the water sector and environmental protection in Central Asia to openly discuss vulnerable and urgent problems in Central Asia.
