DKU Talk «U.S. Foreign Policy» is available on our YouTube channel

On January 20, DKU Talks took place on the topic «U.S. Foreign Policy towards Central Asia after 2020 presidential election».

  • How, if at all, the change of US administration will affect the US foreign policy toward Central Asia?

  • What has been the greatest foreign policy accomplishment of the US toward Central Asia since independence?

  • What steps, if any, would the new administration take to counter the influence of China and Russia in the region?

  • Would the new administration commit to full withdrawal from Afghanistan and, if yes, what alternative strategies would the new administration take to counter the growth of terrorism/radicalism in the region?

We discussed all these and other questions with Dr. Shairbek Dzhuraev, Co-Founder and Director at Crossroads Asia, Research Fellow at the OSCE Academy in Bishkek and Iskander Akylbaev, Executive Director at the Kazakh Council for International Relations in Nur-Sultan.
