German-Kazakh University participated in the Forum of Rectors of Kazakh-German Universitie

Forum of Rectors of Kazakh-German Universities took place in Astana with the participation of the Federal President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The event focused on discussing cooperation between the two countries in the field of education.


German-Kazakh University (DKU) makes a significant contribution to the development of higher education in Kazakhstan by implementing advanced practices from German universities, joint educational programs, and dual-degree programs, which allow students to study innovative disciplines and gain knowledge from German professors.

DKU, in collaboration with the Caspian University of Technologies and Engineering named after Yessenov, is establishing the Kazakh-German Institute of Sustainable Engineering Sciences in Aktau. Its opening planned for June 21, 2023.

DKU representatives participated in the Forum of Rectors of Kazakhstani and German Universities, including President Professor Wolrad Rommel, Rector Assel Auezova, and Vice President for International Relations Barbara Janusz-Pawletta.



At the conclusion of the forum, several agreements, and memorandum of cooperation between universities were signed.

President Wolrad Rommel signed the following agreements:

  • Framework Agreement between the German-Kazakh University and D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University on cooperation in establishing the Kazakh-German Institute of Science and Technology in Ust-Kamenogorsk.

  • Consortium Agreement between the German-Kazakh University, Technical University of Berlin, Darmstadt Technical University, Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg), and Yessenov University.
