Kazakh-German University Strengthens Strategic Partnership with Hof University within the Development of the Kazakh-German Institute for Sustainable Engineering (KINI)

On 1 June in Berlin, at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Germany, an official signing ceremony was held to formalize the accession of Hof University of Applied Sciences as a co-founder of the Kazakh-German Institute for Sustainable Engineering (KINI), established at Yessenov University in Aktau.

For the Kazakh-German University (DKU), one of the co-founders of KINI, this event marks an important milestone in the development of Kazakh-German academic cooperation and the strengthening of the international educational ecosystem in the field of engineering education.

The signing ceremony was attended by Professor Wolrad Rommel, President of the Kazakh-German University; Askhat Zhilkaydarov, DKU Vice President for International Cooperation; Professor Jürgen Lehmann, President of Hof University of Applied Sciences; Professor Berik Akhmetov, Rector of Yessenov University; and Nurlan Onzhanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Germany.

The accession of Hof University as a co-founder of KINI marks a new stage in the institute’s development and opens up new opportunities for joint research projects, the expansion of academic mobility, and the launch of new international initiatives in the field of sustainable engineering.

This event is of particular importance to DKU, which has already established successful cooperation with Hof University. The two universities currently offer dual degree programs in Mechatronics and Computer Science, providing students with the opportunity to receive an international education and earn degrees from both institutions.

As one of the co-founders of KINI, DKU contributes to strengthening academic ties between Kazakhstan and Germany. The inclusion of Hof University among the institute’s founders will enhance its international potential and create additional opportunities for training highly qualified engineering professionals.

DKU is confident that continued cooperation with Hof University, Yessenov University, and other partners will contribute to the advancement of science, innovation, and engineering education in Kazakhstan.
