The following are the main stages that our university went through in the process of establishment.
The Kazakh-German University was founded in 1999 on the private initiative of the public foundation “Kazakhstan-German Cooperation in Education” with the aim of training specialists according to the German standard. To this day, DKU is the only German university in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
In 2004, the university was successfully certified by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as by the German Academic Exchange Service, which confirms the high quality of education at DKU. At the same time we received a special permission from the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan to study under German study programs.
Three years later, in 2007, twenty first-year students started training in innovative specialties according to the German standard. This was preceded by a lot of work and the signing of an Agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which provides for intensive support of DKU by both states.
In 2008, during the visit of German Federal President Horst Köhler to DKU, an agreement was signed on close cooperation between Germany and Kazakhstan to improve the infrastructure of DKU. We also reached an agreement with University of Applied Sciences Mittweida, University of Applied Sciences Schmalkalden and Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau on the mutual recognition of exam results and the associated opportunity for excellent students to obtain bachelor's degrees in Germany and Kazakhstan. And already in 2012, we welcomed the first graduates of the Double Diploma program who studied in Germany.
In 2009, 2014 and 2019 DKU was successfully certified by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2014, DKU was accredited by the agency NCAOCO, and in 2015 by the Institute for Accreditation, Certification and Quality Assurance ACQUIN (Germany).
2018 - Accreditation by ACQUIN (Germany).
2019 - Successful institutional accreditation by NAAR.
