The International Online Conference 2022-2023 "Silk Road of Knowledge: Meeting of Science and Green Policy" will be held on February 22-24.
We would like to tell you in more detail about one of the 6 thematic sessions of the conference: "Innovations in methods of adaptation and mitigation of climate change in the water sector of Central Asia".
Climate change in the future will lead to floods and droughts, which will affect access to water in Central Asian countries. Water is a particularly complex sector due to the inextricable link between freshwater resources and other sectors and ecosystems (UNFCCC, 2012). Technologies can only be deployed if certain requirements are met: there is no guarantee that a technology that works well in one country will work as expected in another country.
Since climate change adaptation measures in Central Asia are mainly aimed at improving water resources management, this also provides opportunities for development. Adaptation measures should be based on well-known land and water management methods to increase resilience to future climate change, which will also enhance water security.
This thematic session will feature presentations by two key speakers, as well as a discussion with policy advice and recommendations for Central Asian countries.
