Berlin, September 29, 2026. President of the Kazakh-German University (DKU), Prof. Dr. Wolrad Rommel, took part in a meeting of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev with rectors of leading German universities and heads of scientific institutions.
The meeting was held as part of the official visit of the Head of State to Germany and focused on further developing Kazakhstan-Germany cooperation in higher education and science.
During the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the significant potential for cooperation between universities of the two countries. Key areas discussed included the development of joint degree programmes and double-degree programmes, academic mobility, joint research projects, technology transfer, and cooperation with industry. Particular attention was paid to prospects for cooperation in artificial intelligence, digitalization, and Industry 4.0.
These areas are of particular importance to the Kazakh-German University. For more than 25 years, DKU has served as an important platform for Kazakhstan-Germany cooperation, continuously developing partnerships with German universities and research institutions, as well as joint educational and research projects.
Prof. Dr. Wolrad Rommel has consistently advocated for the development of this model of cooperation through joint educational and research projects, the establishment of international scientific networks, and the strengthening of direct links between universities, research institutions, and the business sector.
The participation of the DKU President in the meeting underscores the active role of the Kazakh-German University in strengthening academic and scientific ties between Kazakhstan and Germany and opens up new opportunities for further expanding this cooperation.
