On September 25–26, 2026, Almaty hosted the IV Central Asian Forum of German Language Teachers under the theme “German in Central Asia: Education, Innovation and Cooperation.” The forum brought together teachers, researchers, and representatives of educational institutions from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Germany.
The forum was held at the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University with the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The event’s strategic and institutional partners included the Goethe-Institut, the International Association of Teachers of German (IDV), the Central Agency for Schools Abroad (ZfA), the Kazakh-German University (DKU), and other organizations.
The Kazakh-German University took an active part in the forum. The University’s President, Professor Wolrad Rommel, delivered a welcoming address and moderated one of the forum’s key sessions. DKU German language instructors participated in professional discussions and thematic sessions focused on current issues in German language teaching and development.
Particular attention during the forum was given to the development of the German language in Central Asia’s educational and academic environment, academic mobility, and international cooperation. Professor W. Rommel moderated the panel discussion “Mobility and Double Degrees in the Context of Quality Education in Central Asia.”
One of the significant outcomes of the forum was the development of regional guidelines for the advancement of the German language for 2026–2030. The working group on universities and academic mobility discussed joint and bilateral educational programmes, while the final plenary session focused on the adoption of the “Central Asian Roadmap for the German Language (2026–2030).”
DKU’s participation in the forum contributed to the university’s efforts to promote professional dialogue, academic mobility, and cooperation in the field of German language education in Central Asia.
