DKU extends its sincere gratitude to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Berlin

The German-Kazakh University extends its sincere gratitude to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Germany, the Embassy staff, and His Excellency, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Nurlan Baimoldanovich Onzhanov, for their prompt support of our students who found themselves in a difficult situation in Germany.

On June 24, during the cancellation of their flight and forced stay at Berlin airport due to geopolitical circumstances, DKU students returning from language courses in Germany faced uncertainty and several challenges: the flight cancellation notice came too late, registration desks could not provide the necessary information, and some students’ visas expired that day. They were in complete confusion, not knowing where to turn or what action to take.

DKU staff managed to quickly get in touch with the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Berlin. Shortly afterward, Embassy official Altai Zhumabekovich Iskakov arrived at the airport and stayed with the students until late evening. He made attempts to find an alternative flight and arranged meals for eight students at his own expense.

When it became clear that departure on that day was impossible, A. Z. Iskakov found a hotel for the students and arranged with the migration police to extend the visas for those nearing expiration. While the students stayed at the hotel, he remained in contact, provided comprehensive support, and engaged with Qatar Airways to expedite their departure to Almaty.

As a result, a new flight was scheduled for June 26, on which the students successfully returned home.

The German-Kazakh University once again expresses its deep appreciation to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Germany for their attention, professionalism, and care for our students in a difficult situation. Such support is a powerful testament to the strength of diplomacy and national unity.
