The top students of the Kazakh-German University (DKU) have the opportunity to continue their studies at one of the partner universities in Germany within the framework of the double degree program. They receive a DAAD scholarship funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. Partner universities include: HAW Hamburg, Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences, Technical University of Wildau, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, and Hof University of Applied Sciences.
Currently, 13 DKU students are studying at these German partner universities. In April 2025, they were invited to a scholarship holder meeting in Berlin. The event was organized by the DKU project team at the Technical University of Wildau.
On the first day, the participants were welcomed by Professor Jens Wollenweber, the project leader, followed by an introductory session. Afterwards, the students toured the German Parliament – the Bundestag. Later that day, they shared their personal experiences and impressions of studying in Germany.
The second day focused on German-Kazakh relations. Professor Anselm Fabig, the deputy project leader, gave a lecture on the Basic Law (Grundgesetz) of the Federal Republic of Germany, followed by a discussion on selected aspects of it. The highlight of the day was a visit to the German Foreign Office, where students toured the building and met with Christina Gehlsen, Head of the Division for Foreign Education and Research Policy. The lively discussion covered various topics, including student life, as well as political and economic ties between Germany and Kazakhstan.
