DAAD scholarships for semester-long study at a German partner university. Objective

Within the framework of the DAAD project "Scholarships for Staying in Germany 2023/24", high-achieving DKU students will have the opportunity to spend a semester at a German partner university. There they will get to know German higher education on site and develop professionally, linguistically and personally.

Type of funding

Scholarships are available for a semester stay at one of the following German DKU partner universities and for the specified fields of study:

• HAW Hamburg (environmental and energy technology)
• Mittweid University of Applied Sciences (management)
• Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences (business informatics)
• TH Wildau (Logistics/Telematics)
• University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz (Finance/Marketing)
• Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences (International Relations) The number of places at individual universities is sometimes limited.

Funding period

01.09.2024 - 28.02.2025

Scholarship amount

Monthly stipend: 934 euros (for 6 months)

One-time travel allowance: 750 euros

Deadline for application

February 29, 2024, 12.00 noon

Requirements for a successful application

You are a 2nd or 3rd year undergraduate student at the time of application.

In addition:

• Knowledge of German at B2-C1 level or, for the International Relations program, knowledge of English at B2-C1 level.
• A grade point average of at least 4.0 over the entire period of study. Please note

Students can only participate in one program - either this academic mobility program (semester stay) or a double degree program.

Documents to be submitted

• Letter of motivation in German (for "International Relations" in English)
• Autobiography with photo in German (for "International Relations" in English)
• Transcript in English (can be requested from the Academic Affairs Office)
• Proof of language proficiency (can be requested from the language center). The documents listed must be submitted to the International Office in hard copy.

Selection Procedure

The decision to award scholarships is made by a selection committee consisting of the following representatives:

• DKU University management

• DAAD Scholarship Project of Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences

• DAAD The following criteria are used for awarding scholarships:

• academic performance

• linguistic performance

• evaluation of subject coordinators or guest lecturers at partner universities. Applications are considered separately for each field of study, taking into account the number of available places. The selection committee first draws up a proposal which is sent to the partner universities to obtain their assessment of the candidates. Applicants may be interviewed during this process. After receiving feedback from the partner universities, the selection committee decides whether to award the scholarships.
