With the assistance of the Kazakh-German University (DKU) and partners from Germany, the Mangystau School of Sustainable Engineering is being launched in Aktau on the basis of Yessenov University. Already this year it will start training on educational programs "Logistics" and "Energy and Environmental Engineering". Mangystau School of Sustainable Engineering will become the main educational institution where highly qualified specialists will be trained to work at the new plant for the production of "green" hydrogen in Mangystau region, the construction of which is planned on the initiative of the German-Swedish group Svevind Energy GmbH. On March 14 of the current year DKU president, doctor, professor Volrad Rommel and technical director of Svevind Energy GmbH Peter Bernhardt signed an agreement on partial financing of the training program in the amount of 30 thousand euros. It should be reminded that the project on construction of a plant for production of 2 million tons of "green" hydrogen in Mangistau region is implemented by Hyrasia Energy (a subsidiary of Svevind Energy GmbH). The total cost of the project is about $50 billion, and the capacity of generated "green" electricity is 40 GW. The realization of the project will create about 3,500 jobs during the construction period and about 1,800 new permanent jobs during the phased commissioning of the facilities.
"Green" hydrogen can be used in a variety of industries, including the production of ammonia for fertilizer, hydrogen fuel cells for electric cars and other vehicles, and the production of steel and other metals. It is considered an important component in the transition to a more sustainable and cleaner energy industry.
