DKU Talks: Internationalization of Higher Education: Challenges and Opportunities

DKU is pleased to invite all to the next DKU Talk on «Internationalization of Higher Education: Challenges and Opportunities»!

This talk will address the growing trend among higher education institutions in Kazakhstan to recruit international students, develop international branches, introduce exchange programs for students, staff, and academics, internationalize curricula and research and education partnerships between institutions at regional and international levels.

We will discuss rationales, strategies, and best practices at home and abroad. All this will be discussed together with Prof. Dr. Serge Velesco and Dr. Zakir Jumakulov.

Prof. Dr. Serge Velesco holds PhD in Economics from the Belarusian State Economic University and is currently Professor for International Management, Educational Dean and Foreign Officer at the University of Mittweida in Germany. He has extensive experience in the management of international programs at his home university in Mittweida. In addition, he has extensive experience in consulting of international companies, among others in Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, and Belarus.

Dr. Zakir Jumakulov is a recipient of Bolashaq International scholarship and holds a master’s degree in Public Policy (MPP) from Michigan State University, USA. Most of his career experience happened in Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Education, where Zakir Jumakulov was educational researcher and later Director for Research Programs. For a short period, he worked in the Center for Social Interactions and Communications, an institutional research unit of «Samruk-Kazyna» JSC. Zakir’s research interests lie primarily in internationalization of higher education, human capital development and higher education.
