Dr. Gabriele Stauner

Chairman оf the Supervisory Board DKU

Dr. jur. Gabriele Stauner was born in Wolfratshausen/Bayern
She studied languages and law in Munich and Paris and has a diploma of translator. She received her doctorate in law in 1984 at the Ludwig-Maximilians University, Munich. She has tremendous experience in working with government agencies, for example: UN, European Parliament etc. She is also actively engaged in teaching at universities in Germany and abroad. Today she is chairman of the Supervisory Board of Kazakh-German University.

Prof. Dr. Heinz-Peter Höller

Prof. Dr.-ing. Heinz-Peter Hoeller was born in Hessen in Germany
He got his Diploma-degree in Computer Sciences at the Technical University (TU) Darmstadt.
He got his PhD at the University of Bremen.
Professionally he started at the German research institute GMD in Darmstadt, today Fraunhofer institute. He then was assistant at the University of Bremen. Since 1993 he is a professor for data communications at Schmalkalden university of applied sciences. There he was dean of the faculty and later rector of the university. Today he is chair of the DAAD-project that organizes German support for the development of the Kazakh-German University.

Olessya Unger

President of DKU

Olessya has 10 years of experience in companies. She supported by the standup of the pvc profile factory in Kazakhstan, where she was engaged in the development of company and staff structure before transferring the business to a Kazakh partner.
She worked on projects to start the business of other companies, being a link between the international and Kazakhstan sides. She also has experience in opening new branches and in developing activities in new markets. Today she works in a consulting company RSP International in Almaty, where she is closely connected with such activities as: intern management, corporate law, commercial law and contract law, etc. In March 2020, Olesya Unger was appointed President of the Kazakh-German University. Her term of office will continue until the presidential elections DKU, which will be held in the autumn of 2020.


Acting Recrot / Vice Rector for Academic Affairs — candidate of economic sciences Azhibayeva A.A.

Azhibayeva Assel Auezova received her PhD in Economics in 2010. Her dissertation was devoted to the topic «Improving the organizational and economic mechanism of insurance in crop production in Kazakhstan (based on the materials of the Almaty region)». Her teaching and research activities began in 1998 in the Kazakh State Academy of Architecture and Construction at the Department of «Economics in construction». She has been working at the Kazakh-German University since its foundation — more than 20 years.
Assel currently holds the position of Acting Rector of the Kazakh-German University and Vice-rector for Academic Activities.

Vice Rector for Research and Technology transfer — Dr. phil. Beimenbetov Serik

Dr. Beimenbetov Serik completed his PhD at the Department of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Exeter, United Kingdom. He has degrees in political science, modern and contemporary history, and international relations from the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg (Germany) and the Kazakh State National Al-Farabi University. Prior to joining the DKU, he held teaching posts at the American University of Central Asia and the University of Central Asia (both Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan).

Vice Rector for International Cooperation — PhD Barbara Janusz-Pawletta

Since 2011, Dr Barbara Janusz-Pawletta on behalf of DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) is building up and supervising the regional MA Program on Integrated Water Management in Central Asia at the Kazakh-German University in Almaty. Since 2016, she is a UNESCO Chairholder for water management in Central Asia. Her teaching and research fields cover legal framework and institutional interstate cooperation. Since 2004, she has on hers account more than 35 research publications in various sources, including foreign ones.
Currently Dr. Barbara Janusz-Pawletta is also the сo-editor of the Journal of the Central Asian Journal of Water Research (CAJWR), which is open-access, peer-reviewed e-Journal dedicated to all aspects of water management in the region of Central Asia. She has a membership at the Technical Committee of the Global Water Partnership (GWP) and at International Law Association within the Committee” Role of International Law in Sustainable Natural Resource Management for Development”.
